2D/3D Chess
Back in March 2009, we featured a 3D Chess game by Jacob Seidelin whereby two human players could play a game of chess on a 3D board. Since then, Stefano Gioffré has been busy improving the original base game with a 2D version (not canvas) and a computer controlled opponent.

2D/3D Chess
Can you beat the computer?

This is a pretty neat demo, although I have to wonder, if Stefano has the skills to make it 3D using canvas, why not use Canvas for the 2D version too?

Nice implementation. Unfortunately, I can’t play chess, so I can’t evaluate a computer skill.

Very nicely programmed. The board is great and the user-friendliness is nice. The chess engine is weak, but building a decent chess engine in Javascript is a very difficult project.
Hopefully this will inspire the various chess sites (Week in Chess, Chessbase etc) to either drop their Silverlight chessboards or seriously upgrade their javascript ones.
